Amelia Brynne Merriman

Georgia-native, Amelia Brynne Merriman has enjoyed a multifaceted musical career as an actress, singer, pianist, and oboist. Before moving to New England, Amelia was seen in local and educational productions in the surrounding Atlanta area as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Mrs. Fleming in Heathers, Christmas Eve in Avenue Q, Ivy Robinson in Bare: A Pop Opera, and Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical. After moving up north, Amelia made her Connecticut debut as Elphaba in a concert version of Wicked, and she was recently seen as Lucy Harris in an outdoor concert version of Jekyll & Hyde. Upon the re-opening of musical theatre per COVID-19, Amelia is looking forward to performing the role of Ulla in White Rabbit Theatre’s production of The Producers. 

 

In 2020, Amelia completed her Master of Music in Oboe Performance at the Yale School of Music, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Musical Arts at the Yale School of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance with a Certificate in Music Business from the University of Georgia. Amelia holds the second oboe position with the Binghamton Philharmonic in Binghamton, NY and is a substitute member of the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida.

 

Passionate about new avenues of music-making, Amelia co-founded the Marea Duo, a chamber ensemble composed of oboe, bassoon, and voices. Amelia and her duo partner, Eleni Katz, run the virtual concert series Marea & Friends, where they collaborate and perform with other professional artists from around the country who are out of work during this time. Amelia is an avid teacher, and she is the music director at Farmington Valley Montessori School in Avon, CT as well as a Teaching Artist through the Yale Music in Schools Initiative. She also runs her own private music studio of voice, piano, and oboe students.
